Espionage 2 / Re: Finder Launch Prompts
« on: February 21, 2012, 05:53:31 PM »
Hi Bob,
Thanks for your suggestion. I think the challenge here would be to determine when did the Finder _finished_ launching.
What if the user decides to click on one of the protected folder during the time Finder is still doing it's startup business, ie. calculating folder size for example.
He would not get a prompt and that would not be good.
And to differentiate between between Finder file access on it's own and Finder access due to user interaction, I'm not sure if it is possible.
But I will pass this on to development and maybe they come up with something.

Thanks for your input.

Dear JP,
Instead of adding Hazel to the white list, remove all application association and wait for Hazel to check on folder.
It will bring up the window to enter the password and in the same window, from the drop down menu, select "Add xxx to white list". The xxx is the process which wanted to access the folder, and will be white listed.
Let me know if that helped.
Cheers

Unfortunately I cannot add anything to my last post.
I hope you will find a good solution which suites you.

Hi blipman,
Did not help is giving me little insight on what happened.
Do you see the encrypted disk image?
Did you try to open it?
Did it ask for password?
Did you enter it?
If all is yes, then can you please go to Root folder of your disk, i.e. usually Macinotsh HD, then click on the (normally invisible) Volumes folder, do you see your disk image mounted?
Are the files inside?
Pls let me know,
Zsolt

Espionage 2 / Re: Password Prompt fails to display on file access

Dear Seiryu, my name is Zsolt and from now on I will be the primary support representative for product questions. Our sincere apologies for the delay that occurred.

What you describe is correct behavior. It is just a matter of going two path steps at once rather then one by one. So instead of listing dir1/dir2, you list dir1, this will trigger the prompt, and once unlocked, you will list dir2.

Anyway, most of the users will use Finder to access the files, and there you cannot go two folders at a time anyway.

So implementing the feature you request would not bring significant feature to users.

Espionage 2 / Re: Support for Growl 1.3.x

Hello, my name is Zsolt and from now on I will be the primary support representative for product questions. Our sincere apologies for the delay that occurred.

At the moment the Version 3 of Espionage is in works. It will surely consider Growl 1.3.x, however as of few days ago, it seems that OS X 10.8 is bringing Growls destiny in question. So I'm not sure if the decision to go with OS X notifications rather then with growl will be made. I don't even know if Growl will be further developed, so at this time it is a wait and see game.

Espionage 2 / Re: App glitch with Espionage
« on: February 17, 2012, 08:59:16 PM »
Hello Adkim, my name is Zsolt and from now on I will be the primary support representative for product questions. Our sincere apologies for the delay that occurred.

Canceling the prompt when opening a folder is OK, there is nothing wrong with that.
If you click it again it will again ask for password.

If the folder is associated with the application and you start the application, it will request the password, if you cancel the request, the application should not start.

Or was it different in your case?

Please let me know.

Espionage 2 / Re: Encrypt Home Folder in Lion
« on: February 17, 2012, 08:49:51 PM »
Dear Fellows,
Thanks for your interest in the product, and sorry for delayed answer.
To encrypt the home folder with Espionage is not possible, because the LauchAgent which is controlling the folder access is a user process, which is started after the user initiates the login. So the encrypted folders would be properly handled only after the Agent is started. Considering that the logon process needs the user data right away, the whole thing would fail.

However, encrypting the whole user folder, is rarely necessary, do you realy want to encrypt your preferences files for example?
You can simply encrypt say your Documents folder where you supposedly keep the sensitive data.
You can also encrypt your Emails, Addresses, Evernote Files etc, using application templates.

I hope this helps.

OK, now that you see those 3 folders, it means that the helper does not run, and that you can manipulate the encrypted disk image as long as you know the password. The only problem is that the disk image is invisible to Finder.
Please follow these instructions and let me know if it helped.

Espionage 2 / Re: Evernote Template Issue
« on: February 17, 2012, 11:57:34 AM »
Hi Levi,
here is a link which explains how to encrypt Evernote Data
http://www.documentsnap.com/how-to-encr ... n-mac-osx/
All the long read and cumbersome points are done for you by Espionage :-)
Now, in the article itself, the Cache folder is not mentioned, but if you read the comments then you will see somebody mentioning it.

I checked on my Mac, and indeed, I do not have that folder either.
Maybe is is related to a free vs paid version of Evernote, which one do you use?

But, as you can see in the error message, Espionage does allow you to continue, if you do not have that file, then there is also no danger that it is not encrypted.
So I guess it is safe for you to continue.

But I will check with development and ask them their opinion.

Hello, I assume you can access the encrypted disk image which contains the items you encrypted. If yes, then simply open that disk image, move them into a regular folder, and then add that new folder to espionage.
Would that be a solution for you?

Hello, can you please tell me in which tell me in which folder do you see the file?
If you make a get info on it, which permission does it have, can you attach a screenshot of the get info window?
Or if you are familiar with the terminal then an ls -l@ of that folder? And an ls -l@ of the folders content.
Thanks
Zsolt
