Espionage 3 / Reinstalling OS 10.11 when you have encrypted folders
« on: April 28, 2016, 08:21:52 PM »
Do you have to remove folders from encryption before doing a clean install of OS 10.11.4?

When I open Espionage preferences, I find I cannot change the location of the disk images back to the Library folder, even if I use iVisible to make it visible before hand.

How do I get my disk images into the hidden Library folder?

Thank you Zsolt. That clarifies things.

The disk images are by default located inside your (hidden) Library folder.

My Library folder does not appear to be hidden. Do you mean they are hidden files inside my Library folder? (My assumption is that they are, but I want to be sure.)

Thanks again,

Ross

Okay, now it is hidden ??? What a lovely OS  >:(

Espionage 3 / Confused about folder sets and plausible deniability

I have the latest version of Espionage 3 running under OS 10.11.4. When I first installed E3, I didn't think I'd want plausible deniability. However, paranoia has won.

I don't understand several things:

1. How do I create "fake" folder sets? The same way I create the real ones?
2. I understand that the mountpoint is where I want the encrypted folder to appear when opened, should the disk image be located somewhere else?
3. How do I hide the disk images? If they are not hidden, what happened to "plausible deniability"?

Great, thanks.

The more I use this software, the better I like it (and the more comfortable I get with it.) :D

Espionage 2 / Re: Feature request

There have been several times recently when I wanted to add multiple folders, and especially to unlock several at once. I know about the unlock at login feature, but I don't always want to do that. Yes, it is a very useful feature.

A workaround is to have the frequently opened together folders in a parent folder, and then protect the parent folder. I may try that.

Thanks for your reply.

It would be very useful to be able to add, remove, and decrypt multiple folders simultaneously, just as we can now "lock all folders."

I do have one other question: What about defragmenting the disk that has the Espionage backups on it?

Thanks, that answers my question exactly. I do have backups turned on, more backup is always good.

Espionage 2 / Defragmenting disks with Espionage protected folders
« on: April 29, 2012, 08:27:32 PM »
In running Diskwarrior on partitions that contain Espionage protected folders, I notice that they  appear to be highly fragmented (30 to 60 percent). Is this real, or is this a side effect of the way Espionage operates?

If it is real fragmentation, do I have to remove the protected folders from Espionage before defragmenting the disk, or can I just defragment the disk leaving the folders protected?

Alternatively, can I leave the folders in Espionage but just unlock and/or disable them?
