I'm trying out Espionage and one of  my main uses for it would be to secure Bento. At present I have Espionage setup to backup my Bento data to my google doc account. Unfortunately nearly everytime it shows an alert saying

 "Got error 23 backing up Bento. It's recommended to re-run backups for this folder to ensure backup integrity".

If I then do a manual backup it will sometimes be successful. Hopefully someone has a solution as apart from this Espionage seems to offer everything I am looking for.

I'm sorry you're having some troubles backing up your encrypted folder.

Espionage uses a command-line tool 'rsync' to perform the backups and for whatever reason, it's failing from time to time for you. Do you have better success right after you've logged into your OS X account (or rebooted)? Once you see this start to fail, have you found anything that 'clears it up' for a while?

The issue may lie on your Mac, or have something to do with your Google Docs account. Without exposing any credential information, what have you selected as your Espionage Backup location and is it always mounted on this Mac?

It might help us to see the exact rsync error message from the system log to understand what's wrong.

I use SMEstorage to manage my cloud based storage and backup to my google docs account. The SMEstorage will not always have its virtual drive mounted on my mac but I always mount it before backing up from Espionage and it is set to do an auto refresh with the cloud on mounting.
