Title: Espionage automatically unmounts and locks folders
Post by: phi on November 02, 2010, 03:16:10 PM
Hi all,

This has been occurring for weeks. At first, I thought it was a feature, but found that I could not disable it.

After a period of time, Espionage would automatically unmount and lock folders that I had unlocked. I could be in a process of copying a file or working on a document when the folder would suddenly lock.

Do you know why this might happen? I hope to have my folders stay unlocked once I have unlocked them.

Thank you for your help. Have a great day.

This is very bizarre, as Espionage does not have such a 'feature' in it at all.

The folders could be locking for a variety of reasons, because any application that can "eject" volumes could cause such a thing to happen. When an Espionage'd folder is "locked" that's all that's really happening, is a hidden disk image is being unmounted ("ejected"). This may not necessarily be Espionage's doing is my point.

Have you noticed any patterns to this? Is it a specific folder that's locking or is it all folders? How long after unlocking does it lock and is it consistent?

Dear Greg,

Thanks for the reply.

No, it is not just one specific folder. All the folders that I have unlocked are affected.

Yes, it occurs after a specific period of time. I will try and time it but from my observations, it seems consistent.

This is the log when "Vault" was automatically unmounted. This was while I had several documents and applications open, which were running from "Vault".

You would note that after it was unmounted, I tried to unlock it. I first entered the password incorrectly. Subsequently, Espionage crashed.

I hope this log would be useful. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

Thanks phi, could you send us a diagnostic report (http://www.taoeffect.com/other/TEDiagnosticTool.app.zip) the next time this happens? Please make sure to reference this thread in the report.
