Espionage 2 / Problem with SyncServices
September 13, 2010, 07:19:46 AM
I've got Espionage set up to encrypt Mail, iCal, Address book & SyncServices. It's been setup that way for a while, and everything worked fairly well until a recent upgrade.  I first noticed that my XMarks for Safari wasn't syncing.  When I try to manually sync, I get this message:  "You have disabled syncing on this computer.  Open iSync, go to 'File>Preferences', and enable sync".  If I try to open iSync, I get the message that the Sync Manager is not available. Opening the MobileMe system preference pane and clicking the Sync tab yields the message "An unknown error occurred while performing a sync operation. Please check your account and network settings, then try again."  Looking at the Espionage drop-down menu, shows that the SyncServices folder is unlocked, as well as Mail, Address Book, Calendars folders.

Any idea what's going on here?

I have Espionage set up to encrypt Address Book.  Since I use MobileMe for syncing, it is set up to auto login on startup, I enter the password and everything is OK.  The problem seems to be that the folder(s) is not getting locked properly when I shut down at the end of the day.  When I start up the next day, Espionage tells me that the addressbook folder already exists and is not empty (or something to that effect) and so it makes a backup. I noticed that if I manually lock the folder before shutting down, this doesn't happen.  Is this the way it's supposed to work?  Do I have to manually lock folders before shutting down? Or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

John
