Thank you!

The symlink idea is quite brilliant! I hadn't gotten to thinking how to make it easier, but that will work great. Thanks, again...

Thank you. My travel schedule has kept me away from this issue for a while. I will attempt the local mount point, but sounds like that fixes it for now.

Hard to tell. Which processes are likely to be those I should search on? I'm getting a lot of log messages right now!

I'm not seeing anything that's jumping out to me, but I'm happy to look for anything you think could help. Any search criteria to limit the messages?

Sorry I wasn't clear...

1) Folder decrypts and mounts in El Cap using Espionage no problem.
2) Folder fails to mount in Sierra using Espionage
3) Copying the password out of Espionage and using Disk Utility allows me to mount in Sierra

Hope that clarifies?

Are there any known issues with Sierra for Espionage? I can copy the password out and then mount the sparsebundle, but it won't mount from Sierra. It throws a red error, but no error message or other information. Just failure to mount. Recommendations?

Fair enough. I had read an earlier thread where there was an implication that there might be some additional options.

Thanks, anyway.

Espionage 3 / No mountable file systems error
August 17, 2015, 10:19:23 AM
Greetings...

I have a large (4TB) disk with two Espionage sparseimages on it. I have been using these for a while, and they contain a substantial amount of data each (Espionage reports one at 2.75TB of 2.84 and the other at 568GB of 579). Starting last week (while I was on a trip away from my home office where these disks live connected to my Mac Pro), the larger of the two stopped decrypting. At first, there was no visible error from Espionage; it just never stopped attempting to mount it. However, when I went through the steps manually (copy the password, double click, enter password), the system began to give the infamous "no mountable file systems" error.

I've run disk util on the disk and it returns no errors and nothing to fix.

The disk is also a RAID mirror that uses SoftRAID.

Any ideas what I might try to get it back? The permissions on the two images are the same, and the other opens and mounts fine.

Thank you!

Quote from: "ssh"How would you suggest I get the license into the 3.0.4 installation? Having lost my encrypted files when upgrading to Espionage 3, I am very hesitant to do anything manual to the install for fear of losing my files, again. What are the precise steps I should follow to upgrade from 3.0.0 (which is in the folder) to 3.0.4 (which by default is not)?

Thank you.
Help, please?!  :(

Espionage 3 / Updating Espionage
April 18, 2013, 06:54:33 AM
What is the proper way to update Espionage? I'm currently on 3.0.0 and when I install 3.0.4, it drops into Applications and asks for a new license instead of into the Espionage folder where 3.0.0 is.

Thanks.

Data 100% lost. This is very disappointing. I hope that you have learned about how to upgrade such a very different program, making sure that the removal of the old program doesn't clobber the new program's configuration files. This is deeply disturbing.  :|   And expensive.

I'm afraid not... I used the same master password as I used on Esp 2.

Lesson learned. Again.

Yes, I run backups, and yes, Esp3 opens but shows a blank list of folders (with the older databases). I suspect that the one that I need got blown away when I removed Esp 2, since I didn't use the Esp 2 uninstall tool (I didn't know I had to until I went looking for a solution to this problem!). So, since Esp 2 used the same directories and similar file names, App Cleaner probably blew away the database file that I need and so it's all gone. I have a huge data image encrypted because it's important and I will never be able to recover it. I can probably recreate is for about $1k...  :o
