Title: Folder Autolock not working - Dropbox issue?
Post by: Sharkez on July 16, 2012, 11:07:22 AM
Hi,
I'm on Espionage 3.0.2 and use Dropbox to share encrypted folders between computers (sharing the sparsebudles on DB). I've now noticed that Espionage does not "autolock" an open folder. I have the default autolock settings enabled [menu after 10 min, folder after 2 hours] and while the menu does lock, the folder is not locked when I leave the computer unattended. The folder is not open in any finder (or pathfinder, which I also use) windows.

On my other computer I can see that DB is updating some of the sparsebundle bands on a regular basis so I wonder if the two don't play quite as well as I hoped. I'll say that this approach of sharing sparsebundles _does work_ very well in all other ways.

So I was wondering if others have seen this and it's just something I have to live with?

Ciao.

Hello, thanks for the input, I will test this, but first just confirm that you do NOT have the folder unlocked on both Macs accessing this dropbox account.
If you do, this is not supported and will probably result in corrupted disk image.
Pls confirm.
Thanks

No - I'm not accessing both at the same time. We should all know that is bad juju ;-)

Hello, it seems that you are right. I tested it today at work and it eventually locked, but I think about an hour later, in spite of auto lock being set to 10 minutes.
Now I tested it at my home mac and now I'm at 12 minutes and so far it did not lock, again, it is set to 10 minutes.
I assume dropbox is accessing it for a moment and this prevents the lock, but nevertheless I will let the dev team know, maybe they will have some further input.

Cheers
Zsolt
