Thanks for the information.

I've not yet confirm it, but a little worried about the problem with the SyncServices folder I decided to unprotect and protect it again to rebuild the image. After that I clicked on "verify" on DiskUtility, it reported problems right away, the folder ended locked on Espionage and could not mount it again, only after rebooting.

I am not sure if it's ok to verify Espionage DiskImages created by Espionage using this utility.
I don´t want to sound paranoid, but all my important files reside on those images and I think it could be reasonable to have a way to check and fix eventual problems, like file permissions or volume structure.
Maybe DiskUtility does not handle mounted images that well and it could be better to verify the unmounted image file, but as it's invisible I can´t select it from within DiskUtility.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Hello,

as I have important information on the images created by Espionage, I wanted to verify permissions and structure of the images.
I used Apple DiskUtility to do it. It founded structure problems on some of the images (SyncService was one of them). After the check, I realized the images were unmounted and after that, they were impossible to be mounted again (using either the Espionage menu or the app).
I needed to reboot to be able to mount the volumes again. :(

Is it ok to verify disk the images using the Apple Disk Utility?
Anything I can do to solve this issue?

Regards.

Espionage 2 / Re: Unlock a folder using the menu
September 08, 2010, 11:07:55 AM
Thanks greg. Now it works. :)
I assume it tries to open the folder, event that Espionage recognized as the need to unlock it.
To have the Finder whitelisted and for this to work, it would be needed to unlock the folder using another method, like the one used by the Espionage application.
For some instances I assume that could be useful to have the Finder whitelisted.

Yes:
- Folder enabled in Espionage.
- Finder whitelisted.
- All windows and applications closed.

Will report later if restarting solves the problem.

Espionage 2 / Unlock a folder using the menu
September 07, 2010, 11:07:35 PM
Hello greg,

I noticed that now I can't unlock a folder using the "Unlock" menu option:

I am directed to the correct location, but the folder isn't unlocked:

Bug or am I doing something wrong?
I am using version 2.8.5.

Thanks for the upgrade, but I am still getting the message on every startup...
I will check better, but I think it shows several times for the same folder. Because I configured growl to hide the message automatically, I never get time to read every one of them, because they are around 10.
I will change that and report better, hopefully soon.

Hello,

not sure something went a little wrong, but after the 2.8 update I get the message "Alert! Please lock '<folderName>' prior to moving or renaming it" on every computer startup.

Is there something I can do to tell Espionage everything it´s good so it wont complain?

Thanks

Wanted to add a little something that could be a problem for some:

- If you add a folder to Espionage, then disable it from TM using the Espionage application and finally remove it from Espionage protection, it continues to be excluded from TM. I would suggest to be enabled again in TM, as now the Espionage backups wont handle it anymore.

Enjoy!

Quote from: "greg"Espionage will now handle this for you in 2.8:

Great!
I added all my folders using the checkbox. Much, much easier than before!
Thanks for the improvements about Time machine, as it´s a very common backup solution for Mac users.
(Maybe the checkboxes could a little more visible, as you need to left click every folder to see if they are blocked for TM, but I am not complaining, all great!)

And SmartMove, amazing too.

Hello,

I followed the instructions in the tips (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3) to backup with TM excluding the 10 Espionage protected folders I use.

I locked all of them, added them to the TM exclusion list, then unlocked them, and to my surprise, they were all gone for the TM list!
I think it auto delete them, because they change or something alike.

I am waiting for a fix before I start to backup, as I cannot use my old backup method anymore.

Any help?
Thanks!

Espionage 2 / Access unlocked folder from Parallels
June 10, 2010, 08:34:31 AM
Hello,
I tried to access an unlocked folder from within Parallels shared mac-home directory (it´s mounted like a network disk in Windows XP). When I reach the mac-symlink using windows explorer I get the a message that the folder could not be found, forcing me to copy the files outside the protected folder to be able to access them.

Any ideas?
Thanks
