Your first request is indeed matching how espionage 2 works. Some users like it some don't. If personally thing, if looking strictly from the security perspective, which is the main purpose of this application, that the behaviour of version 3 is better as it does not indicate in any way that the folder is something special, protected, containing sensitive data, etc. It looks just like an ordinary folder and will not encourage an intruder to sniff around it.
Your second request does have a point, but would break another feature which I find good, and this is that you can put some dummy files in the protected (and locked) folder, which could further make this folder even more look like an ordinary folder, say you name the folder "Holiday Pictures" and you put few photos into it. As long as it is locked, all you see are few pictures. Once you unlock it, the pictures disappear and you have access to your tax info, once locked, the pictures are back again....
