Title: Finder Lockup
Post by: proclivis on April 18, 2014, 07:48:15 AM
I am trying to diagnose a Rinder lockup on OSX 10.9.2.

I do the following:

- Boot
- From top bar espionage menu unlock a folder
- From the top bar espionage menu lock the same folder
- From the top bar espionage menu unlock the same folder

The Finder hangs. Relaunching the finder does not fix it. Restarting the OS fixes, but it takes a very long time to shut down.

There are no messages in the console with clues.

How do I narrow down the problem?

Which folder are you trying to protect?
How big it is?
Can you try it with another folder?

Thanks

It is a folder under Documents, name is composed of 4 letters. The contents are small, as in a 4KB. The Macbook is very new, as in 30 days, so it is clean. I have a sparse bundle on a USB thumb drive formatted by the Mac disk tool. No problems unlocking it. Ejects fine. I can try another folder after this post. I don't want to loose this typing :-)

Well, adding another folder under Documents/Dir/NewDir

- Add 256 bit sparse bundle
- Logout
- Unlock

Documents folder is now empty. Reboot, takes many minutes. Log in, Documents is ok.

Has Espionage 3 been well tested on Mavricks?

Hello, what you report is very strange. We did not have anything similar reported. Yes, V3 works fine with Maverick.
Maybe it is some virus protection application running or some disk maintenance application, do you have maybe prosoft engineering disk utility installed, or intego virus barrier?

If you wish, we can take a look into this together, tomorrow I will be available for a remote session most of my daytime, I'm in GMT+2 time zone, same as paris/rome/berlin

Let me know if you are interested.

No virus checker. No prosoft.

Please send me an e-mail from your company e-mail and we can coordinate a time to work on this.
