Title: Folder autolock
Post by: eldeekay on March 24, 2015, 11:39:51 AM
Hi,

All I've downloaded so far is the trial version, because I want to make sure this does what I need before I buy.

And I've run into an issue - the auto file lock option is not working.  I can select it in the folder info window and set it for 1 min or whatever time I want, but it doesn't lock.  Is this feature disabled in the trial version?

The application auto lock works fine, but with an unlocked folder on the desktop, locking the app serves no purpose.

Thanks.

Hello

There are two auto clock setting in Espionge, one is the application auto lock and the other is the folder auto lock.
The application auto lock is easy to understand, you set it to 5 minutes, and after 5 minutes it locks.
The fact that the application locked itself, will not affect the state of the unlocked folders, they will remain unlocked.

Now the folder auto lock timer works different, it resets itself whenever the Mac is not idle. So if you set it to 5 minutes, and you work on the mac, the folder will not lock as long as you do not leave your mac idle for 5 minutes.
The idea behind is that the folder does not lock while you are working, preventing you from saving the data into it.

The idea behind the application lock is to prevent administering the folders, so for example, if you unlock your "secret" folder but did not unlock the "secret2" folder, if one gets hold of your mac, he can access the data from the secret folder, but not from secret2 as he would need to unlock the app first, to be able to unlock the secret2 folder.

Let me know if you have further questions.
